Water or Juices

When the intestines get a low water supply to push the undigested food through them, it turns into constipation. Any form of juice or water works great to make the stool pass easily through their system. If your child is not very fond of drinking water again and again, you can try juices. You can make lemonade and add a little sugar to it. The change of taste might trigger your child’s interest in taking fluids and it would solve the problem in the long run.

Prune Juice

Prunes juice is the most effective reliever of constipation in both babies and kids. If the child is mildly constipated then prune juice is a miracle remedy as it starts working within a few hours of it’s consumption. Prunes are are rich in insoluble fiber, as well as the natural laxative sorbitol. If your child is small you can take two tea spoons of prune juice and mix it with a glass of water. If your child is above one year old, then 150-180 ml of prune juice works best in relieving constipation.

If your child doesn’t like the taste of prune juice, you can make it into an ice pop and see the magic.

Figs or Anjeer

Figs are loaded with fiber and hence are a wonderful home remedy to treat constipation. Without the right amount of fiber, it becomes very difficult for the intestines to make any bowl movement. One fig everyday can give your child a good amount of fiber and it will prove beneficial to their health in an all round way.

You can soak on fig at night in water and give your child the soaked fig in the morning. If they don’t like the taste of it, then you can make a milk shake and can blend it in.

Soaked Raisins In Milk

Raisins are also a good remedy for constipation. Raisins are a rich source of minerals like calcium, iron, potassium, and magnesium. When soaked in milk, they become a sure shot solution for constipation. You can take 4-5 raisins and soak them over night in water. Then you can boil these raisins in milk and can give to your child on an empty stomach. You can also give the raisin milk before they go to bed at night.

Papaya Juice

Yes, Papayas are more efficient than you think. They are very rich in antioxidants such as carotenoids and flavonoids. Papayas are a rich source of papain, which is a natural enzyme that digests protein. Partially unripe papaya contains the most amount of papain, which relieves constipation because it prevents the accumulation of partially digested protein in your large intestine. You can blend the papaya really well and can give the juice to your child in the evening. In just two doses, you will see the difference.
